A life involving many car journeys through Australia has provided a rich source of creativity to Roberta. She drew from her observations of the play of light, the horizon, the landscape and the interactions of the earth, sun or moon.
The overpowering sense of vastness, night, morning, dusk in the outback, or the expanse of ocean, coast and rivers, is evocative of the enormous complexities of the Australian landscape.
The works in the Horizon Series are intense compositions through which Roberta renders visually, an invocation of the spirit within, through her use of the archetypal circular form, juxtaposed with the overpowering sense of the horizontal in the Australian landscape. Many of these pictures were short-listed for competitions and awards.
