In collaboration with architect Ronald Gilling, Roberta embarked on an ambitious project to design and build a new gallery that would be in keeping with Old Berrima’s heritage buildings. A Georgian style home and business complex was designed and named “The Bell Gallery” to reflect her professional name. The gallery opened in 1990. Until Roberta sold the business in 1999, The Bell was recognised by experts and the public for the outstanding quality of its exhibitions. Roberta curated exhibitions which showed a broad spectrum of works by significant Australian artists. They attracted increasing numbers of serious collectors as well as tourists to Berrima.
